PM Shmyhal, vice president of Turkey discuss joint investment projects

During the meeting, the parties discussed joint investment projects, the launch of a free trade zone and the construction of housing for Crimean Tatars, Ukrinform reports referring to the Government portal.

"The main goal of all economic reforms carried out by the Government of Ukraine is the economic development of the country and the improvement of living standards. Our goal is to unlock the potential of the Ukrainian economy and make the country successful," Shmyhal said.

According to the prime minister, Ukraine has determined 30 priority vectors of development that should form the basis of the policy of all authorities, and attracting investment is one of the key priorities.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed topical issues of doing business in Ukraine by Turkish companies and mechanisms to improve the business climate, including the development of public-private partnerships to attract new investors.

“The Republic of Turkey has a successful experience in the field of large-scale infrastructure projects based on the formula of public-private partnership. We expect that the Third Meeting of the Ukrainian-Turkish Working Group on Public-Private Partnership will take place in the near future," the Ukrainian prime minister said.

Shmyhal stressed that the completion of negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement will significantly increase trade between Ukraine and Turkey and bring bilateral trade relations to a new level.

In addition, the Ukrainian prime minister commended the launch of cooperation with Turkey in the field of housing construction for Crimean Tatars, who were forced to flee Crimea as a result of the Russian occupation.

For his part, Fuat Oktay noted that Turkey supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and does not recognize the annexation of Crimea.
