Poland should stop restricting transit for Ukrainian carriers – Kryklii

Poland should stop restricting transit for Ukrainian carriers, as this negatively affects trade relations with EU countries.

Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Vladyslav Kryklii said this during a working meeting with Infrastructure Minister of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Adamczyk, the Government portal reports.

Kryklii stressed the importance of solving the problems related to the lack of permits for international freight road transport operations for Ukrainian carriers. "This is an issue that was repeatedly raised during the last meeting between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda in October this year. Then both presidents expressed hope for a positive solution," the report notes.

According to the minister, Ukrainian carriers are ready to compete in the bilateral market. Ukraine has fulfilled all the commitments it took during the previous meetings of the Mixed Commissions for International Road Freight Transport, which resulted in a significant increase in the share of Polish carriers using permits for 2019. However, the Polish side does not fulfill the agreement reached at the presidential level.

The Infrastructure Ministry recalls that on October 13, within the framework of the official visit of President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda to Ukraine, a bilateral meeting between Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Kryklii and Minister of Infrastructure of Poland Andrzej Adamczyk took place. The parties discussed the prospects for the development of transport links between the two countries, as well as the realization of transit potential.
