Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal says that more than 12,000 mineral deposits have been discovered in Ukraine, but only one third of them are being developed.

"In Ukraine, there are more than 12,000 discovered mineral deposits. Only about one third of them are being developed, which is slightly more than 4,000,” Shmyhal said during the presentation of Ukraine’s economic audit and vectors of economic development until 2030, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The prime minister stressed that raising the exploration and extraction of mineral resources is one of the vectors of Ukraine's development for the next 10 years. At the same time, according to him, raising the extraction of mineral resources does not mean increasing their exports abroad.

"This means creating a basis for the development of high-tech value-added products. We have oil and gas, ores and precious metals. We are talking about the potential of $ 409 billion, which we must use in the next 10 years," said Shmyhal.
