Energy Ministry: UAH 1.4B to be allocated to pay off wage arrears to miners in 2020

The Ukrainian government approved a decision on the allocation of UAH 1.4 billion from the state budget to pay off wage arrears to miners by the end of 2020, the Energy Ministry’s press service reports.
"It is planned to envisage another UAH 1.4 billion in the state budget to pay off wage arrears to miners by the end of the year and repay the debts that arose since September. These funds will come from mandatory payments of Naftogaz and JSC Ukrnafta - MPs approved a relevant bill at first reading,” reads the report.
The ministry noted that Ukraine's COVID-19 Response Fund was not used to repay debts to miners, but the approved bill will help replenish this fund.
