Ukraine is interested in expanding further cooperation with the European Investment Bank, in particular in the field of financing transport, energy sector and urban infrastructure.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal made a corresponding statement during a meeting with Head of the EIB Resident Representation for Ukraine Jean-Erik de Zagon on October 29, the Government portal informs.

According to the Prime Minister, a productive working relationship has developed between the Government of Ukraine and the EIB. The Bank's investment resources are one of the priority sources of financing for development projects in Ukraine.

Denys Shmyhal noted that the Government delegation planned to visit Brussels and Luxembourg in early December to hold a meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Council. Meetings with high-ranking officials of the European Union, the European Investment Bank, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development are also scheduled during the visit.

"I look forward that we can work out a package of investment proposals that could be signed in December during the official visit," the Prime Minister said.

The Head of Government of Ukraine also expressed hope that the projects envisaged in the joint agreements concluded during the 22nd EU-Ukraine Summit on 6 October 2020 would be implemented as soon as possible.

During the meeting, Denys Shmyhal and Jean-Erik de Zagon discussed Ukraine's accession to the European Union's Green Deal initiative and digitalization reform.

"The Green Deal initiative is an important priority of the Government, which we discussed with the Vice Presidents of the European Commission. We engage in work on the implementation of relevant projects on daily basis. This is part of our European integration agreements," Denys Shmyhal said.

Apart from that, the Prime Minister stressed that the Ministry of Digital Transformation was rapidly moving towards digitalization in Ukraine. "Everything related to digitalization, including projects in the field of transport and infrastructure, is very important to us. And we will implement these projects when the relevant offers appear," the Prime Minister stressed.

The Prime Minister also thanked the European Investment Bank for its consistent financial support of Ukraine and assistance in the implementation of development projects.
