The strategy is designed for the period up to 2030 and will be carried out in three stages through the implementation of the action plan for restoring and developing irrigation and drainage in Ukraine.

The implementation of the adopted action plan will ensure the development of irrigated agriculture, increase crop yields, raise the area of irrigated land, drainage systems and expand the agricultural potential of Ukraine,” said Economy Minister Ihor Petrashko.

As reported, the Ukrainian government intends to introduce additional areas of state support in the field of irrigation in 2021-2023. In particular, it is planned to introduce partial compensation of the cost of capital investments in irrigation infrastructure and drainage facilities. Concessional loans will be provided for the construction of irrigation facilities and the rehabilitation of drainage systems.
