The first working meeting was held on October 14 at the level of deputy ministers and heads of department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitalisation and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia with participation of the leadership of Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

As noted, Ukraine intends to raise the issues of coal industry reform and transformation of coal regions during the visit. In particular, the Ukrainian delegation plans to get acquainted with the best experience of Germany in carrying out the coal industry reform and the transformation of coal regions during the closure of mines.

"In the coming days, the delegation will continue negotiations on ‘coal issues’ and hydrogen economy prospects," the Ministry of Energy informs.

In August 2020, Olha Buslavets and Peter Altmaier, German’s Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, signed a joint statement on the launch of energy partnership between Ukraine and Germany. Recently, Ukraine invited Germany to conduct pilot projects on the transformation of coal regions in several towns.
