President of Poland Andrzej Duda will initiate cooperation with Ukraine at the Three Seas Initiative summit in Estonia on October 19-20.

“I promised Mr President [Zelensky] that at the forthcoming Three Seas Initiative summit in Estonia I will present the issue of cooperation between the three countries and Ukraine and discuss both the prospects for this cooperation and a formula to start this cooperation as soon as possible,” Duda said at the Ukraine-Poland Economic Forum in Odesa on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

President of Poland expressed hope that this would bring Ukraine even closer to the EU and, primarily, to the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

Launched in 2015 by President of Poland Andrzej Duda and President of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, the Three Seas Initiative (also known as the Baltic, Adriatic, Black Sea Initiative) aimed to deepen the integration of twelve Central and Eastern Europe countries which are EU Member States (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Austria, Croatia, Romania, Slovenia, Bulgaria). The main focus of the Initiative is the development of infrastructure projects.

In November 2019, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky told President of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid that Ukraine was interested in joining the Three Seas Initiative.
