NBU, VR Commissioner for Human Rights to cooperate on personal data protection in Ukraine

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) and the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of protection of personal data of Ukrainians.

NBU Governor Kyrylo Shevchenko and Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova took part in the signing ceremony, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Today we are laying the foundation for a qualitatively new stage of improving cooperation in the field of consumer protection of financial services. We are starting close cooperation and coordination of our actions with the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The memorandum of cooperation is aimed at ensuring the protection of personal data by financial institutions," said NBU Governor Kyrylo Shevchenko.

The NBU governor has noted that personal data protection is especially important in the era of active development of online services.
