Finance Ministry: Ukraine aims to reduce public debt by 3% next year
He said this during the Svoboda Slova talk show on Monday evening, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
"This year we have a deficit of UAH 300 million. This is a crisis year, as we had to finance some social programs, pension indexation and the Fund to tackle Covid-19. But we have the opportunity to borrow. Next year, I think we can also take loans, without putting pressure on our macrostability. There is confidence that we will be able to reduce public debt by 3% in 2021. We are not going to borrow expensively,” the finance minister said.
According to Marchenko, the Ukrainian prime minister has already discussed a possible arrival of an IMF mission in Ukraine in the near future.
As Ukrinform reported, the 2021 draft state budget envisages a reduction in public debt to 64.6% of GDP next year.
