Finance Ministry: Government intends to launch new mortgage lending program

Ukrinform
Finance Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko has announced that the government may envisage the provision of mortgage loans for 30,000 Ukrainian families in the state budget for 2021.

Marchenko said this in an interview with Radio Liberty.

"Next year we will be ready to ensure the availability of mortgage loans for 30,000 families. As practically nothing is provided now. So, there will be a new program. We will increase funds for a new structure that will provide mortgage loans, as well as financial leasing, credits. This means the construction of housing,” said Marchenko.

As earlier reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has said that a program should be developed so that Ukrainians be able to buy housing on credit at affordable interest rates – at least 10% per annum, as bank mortgage rates, which have existed so far, are simply unaffordable for many Ukrainian families.
