Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has held a meeting with representatives of wood processing companies to discuss the fight against illegal logging.

"The issues of the fight against illegal logging, fire prevention and development of the industry in general were discussed with representatives of wood processing companies," the prime minister wrote on his Telegram channel after his visit to the Ukrainian Holding Sawmill Company.

According to Shmyhal, the wood processing industry is an important component of the economy of Zhytomyr region, as its share of exports is almost 20% of the total.

The Prime Minister noted that the Ukrainian Holding Sawmill Company is one of the largest in terms of production capacity in Europe. "In order to increase production volumes and further develop the industry, we must implement some systemic tasks: from the creation of e-accounting of wood to strengthening the responsibility for violating legislation in the field of forest resources," Shmyhal wrote.
