Consumer prices in August decreased by 0.2% - State Statistics Service
Consumer prices in August 2020 decreased by 0.2% compared to July 2020, but increased by 1.2% compared to December 2019 and by 2.5% compared to August 2019. In general, in January-August 2020, prices on the consumer market rose by 2.4% compared to the same period last year.
Core inflation in August 2020 was 0.1% compared to July 2020, 1.5% compared to the beginning of the year.
Among consumer goods and services in August 2020, the highest rise was registered in the prices for fruits (by 33.7%), water supply (by 22.5%) and sewerage services (by 19.8%).
From August 2019 to August 2020, the highest fall was recorded in the prices for vegetables (by 18.2%), fuels and lubricants (by 17.9%) and natural gas (by 17.8%).
As reported, according to the State Statistics Service, inflation in the consumer market in August 2019 was 0.3% compared to July 2019, 2.7% compared to the start of 2019, 8.8% compared to August 2018. Core inflation in August 2019 reached 0.1% compared to July 2019, and 2.1% compared to the beginning of 2019.
