NBU expects to receive loan from IMF by year-end

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) expects the arrival of an IMF mission in the near future and hopes to receive a loan by the end of 2020.

NBU Governor Kyrylo Shevchenko said this at a briefing on Thursday, September 3, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We expect the arrival of an IMF mission in the near future and plan to receive a loan from the International Monetary Fund by the end of the year," Shevchenko said.

On June 9, the IMF Executive Board approved an 18-month Stand-By Arrangement for Ukraine, with total access of $5 billion. On June 12, Ukraine received $2.1 billion as the first tranche from the IMF. According to preliminary forecasts of the Finance Ministry, Ukraine may receive $1.4 billion from the IMF by the end of the year.
