UkrAutoProm: New car sales in Ukraine decreased by 16% in August 2020

In August 2020, Ukrainians purchased and registered 7 thousand new cars, which is 16% less than in August 2019, according to the Ukrainian Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association, UkrAutoProm.

It is noted that compared to July 2020, demand for new cars in Ukraine in August decreased by 17%.

Renault cars had the largest demand in Ukraine in August 2020, with 1,334 cars registered. Its share on the market of new passenger cars decreased by 6% from August 2019. Renault Duster was the most popular car model. A total of 605 such cars were registered in Ukraine in August 2020.

The second in terms of sales was Japan’s Toyota with 1,148 cars sold, down 2% from August 2019.

Volkswagen ranked third. It sold 540 cars in Ukraine in August 2020, up 24% from August 2019.

The top 10 most popular cars purchased in Ukraine in August 2020 included: Hyundai – 341 cars (+10%); Suzuki - 311 cars (+56%); Skoda – 294 cars (-51%); Nissan – 281 cars (-40%); Mitsubishi – 229 cars (+23%); Peugeot – 221 cars (+13%); Mazda – 220 cars (-5%).

In total, 52.5 thousand new passenger cars were registered in Ukraine between January-August 2020, which is 4% less than in the same period in 2019.
