Ukrainian government appoints Zhmak head of Ukrzaliznytsia

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has appointed Volodymyr Zhmak as chairman of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia.

According to an Ukrinform correspondent, the government made a respective decision at a meeting on August 26.

Prior to that, Zhmak was appointed a member of the supervisory board at Boryspil International Airport in May 2019.

From 2015 to 2016, he held the position of deputy head of Odesa Regional State Administration. Zhmak also worked as an adviser to the president of Ukraine's telecommunications company Kyivstar.

The Cabinet of Ministers dismissed the former Ukrzaliznytsia head, Yevhen Kravtsov, on January 29 this year.

After that, Zeljko Marcek, a member of the supervisory board at Ukrzaliznytsia, served as the company's acting chairman.

On April 15, Marcek was dismissed and Ivan Yuryk was appointed the new acting chairman of the company.
