One of Europe’s largest data centers to be built in Zaporizhzhia

Investors from Norway and Austria plan to build a computer data center in Zaporizhzhia region, which will become one of the largest in Europe, and capacities for electrolytic hydrogen production.

On August 19, representatives of H2 LLC signed memoranda with National Nuclear Energy Generating Company of Ukraine (NNEGC Energoatom) and PJSC Ukrhydroenergo [the leading producer of electrical power from renewable sources in Ukraine], an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

The memoranda of cooperation were signed as part of the presentation of the Zaporizhzhia Region Development Strategy until 2027.

“One of the largest data centers in Europe will be built in Zaporizhzhia. The amount of investment is over $700 million. Currently topical energy areas will also be developed. The electrolytic production plant with a capacity of 200 MW is to be located on the territory of the Dnipro hydroelectric power plant or the adjacent territory within the framework of the implementation of the electrolytic hydrogen production project. The amount of investments is over EUR 300 million,” said Mykhailo Fedorov, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, who presented the Zaporizhzhia Region Development Strategy until 2027.

As reported, during a working trip to Zaporizhzhia region on August 19, President Zelensky stated that presentation of development strategies for each region of Ukraine started from Zaporizhzhia region. The strategies were elaborated over the past year by experts, public figures, managers, and local communities.

Zelensky inspected the repair works on the M-18 Kharkiv-Yalta highway and got acquainted with the construction of bridge crossings across the Dnieper River.
