Being a supplier of raw materials abroad, Ukraine should apply the best scientific technologies and processing techniques in the agro-industrial complex to ensure that added value enterprises and jobs remain in the country.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal made a corresponding statement during the opening of the AGRO-2020 exhibition on August 11. Minister of Economic Development, Trade, and Agriculture Ihor Petrashko also attended the event.

The Prime Minister thanked the representatives of the agricultural sector for the fact that they remain "an island of stability on which the economy, our families, companies, and the state in general rely" amid coronavirus-inflicted challenges. Ukraine is a global leader of agro-industrial sector and, therefore, the Government pays great attention to the development of the industry, the Head of Government added.

"The main directions are the reform of land relations, state programs to support small business in the agro-industrial complex, small farming, processing development programs and much more," Shmyhal said, the Government portal informs.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the representatives of the agro-industrial sector should feel support of the state, so the exhibition is a good platform for joint dialogue.

Economic Development, Trade, and Agriculture Minister Ihor Petrashko noted that Ukraine had significantly increased exports of agricultural raw materials over the past two decades.

"We do not intend to rest on our accomplishments. This year, UAH 4 billion has been allocated to support the industry. In previous months, together with the associations, we have developed a number of proposals for state support in 2021. Therefore, we urge you to join active discussions and provide more recommendations," Petrashko stressed.

AGRO-2020 is the largest agro-industrial exhibition in Ukraine and Eastern Europe, an effective platform for improving production, introducing innovation and presenting novelties in all areas of Ukraine's agro-industrial complex. It is a business event that open opportunities for cooperation with countries-leaders of the world agricultural sector and provides unique opportunity for dialogue between private businesses and the state, associations, and foreign representatives.
