Consumer prices fell by 0.6% in July – State Statistics Service

In July 2020, consumer prices in Ukraine decreased by 0.6% compared to the previous month, according to data provided by the State Statistics Service.

Consumer prices in July 2020 against June 2020 decreased by 0.6%; against December 2019 increased by 1.4%; against July 2019 - by 2.4%. In total, in January-July 2020, consumer prices increased by 2.4% compared to the same period last year.

Core inflation in July 2020 was -0.1% compared to June 2020 and 1.4% compared to the beginning of the year.

Among consumer goods and services, fruits (by 33.7%), water supply (by 22.6%) and sewerage services (by 19.9%) rose in price the most in July 2020 compared to July 2019.

The largest decline was recorded in the price of natural gas (by 43.0%), fuel and oils (by 21.5%) and vegetables (by 13.9%) between July 2019 and July 2020.

As reported, according to the State Statistics Service, consumer inflation in July 2019 was -0.6% compared to June 2019, 3.0% compared to the beginning of the year, and 9.1% compared to July 2018. Core inflation in July 2019 was -0.1% compared to June 2019 and 2.2% compared to the beginning of 2019.
