Germany believes that Ukraine should remain gas transit country even with Nord Stream 2
"For the Federal Government, the key issue is that Ukraine remains a gas transit country even in the presence of Nord Stream 2," German Government spokesperson Ulrike Demmer said at a briefing in Berlin on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
She recalled that by signing a transit agreement, Russia and Ukraine created conditions and an important signal to ensure the security of European energy supply.
As for the government's attitude to the Nord Stream 2 project, according to Demmer, it has not changed: Berlin continues to consider it economically viable, but with a political dimension. The German side rejects the unilateral extraterritorial sanctions imposed by the United States directed against German and European companies.
