Ukrainian farmers already gathered 6.3M tonnes of grain – Economy Ministry

“As of July 9, farmers started harvesting grain and legumes in almost all regions of Ukraine. In total, 6,340 thousand tonnes of grain have been threshed from an area of 1,934 thousand hectares (13% of the target),” reads the report.

During the week, Ukrainian farmers gathered 5.085 million tonnes of grain, legumes and rapeseed.

In particular, Ukrainian farmers threshed 2.92 million tonnes of wheat from an area of 918 thousand hectares (14%); 3.03 million tonnes of barley from 870 thousand hectares (69%); 158 thousand tonnes of peas from 84 thousand hectares (36%); 3.85 thousand tonnes of rapeseed from 2.49 thousand hectares.

The highest harvest volumes have been gathered in the Kherson region (1.407 million tonnes from 394 thousand hectares), Mykolaiv region (1.313 million tonnes from 451 thousand hectares), Dnipropetrovsk region (0.91 million tonnes from 261 thousand hectares), and Zaporizhzhia region (0.88 million hectares from 239 thousand hectares).

As reported, Ukraine harvested more than 98 million tonnes of grain and oilseeds in the 2019/2020 marketing year.

The Ukrainian Grain Association forecasts a harvest of 2020/2021 MY at the level of the previous year - 98 million tonnes. At the same time, Ukraine’s exports of grain and oilseeds may increase from 57.2 million tonnes to 58.5 million tonnes.
