Kyiv, Ankara have potential to double trade – Cavusoglu
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said this at a joint press conference following a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba on July 3.
“Our trade turnover is about $5 billion, we can double it and we have sufficient potential for this,” the minister said.
He emphasized that the work was underway and both sides demonstrated their readiness to sign the Free Trade Agreement.
Speaking about tourism, the minister noted that Turkey has provided all security measures for the reception of tourists in the face of the coronavirus pandemic and expects the arrival of tourists from Ukraine. “For Turkey, Ukraine is not only a neighboring country, but it is also a friend and a strategic partner,” he said.
As Ukrinform reported, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba paid a two-day visit to the Republic of Turkey on July 3-4 at the invitation of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu. The foreign ministers held the eighth meeting of the Ukrainian-Turkish Joint Strategic Planning Group, and face-to-face talks.
