The company confirmed the information, disclosed by PGNiG CEO Jerzy Kwiecinski on Polish Radio, to Ukrinform.
"In the first quarter of this year, we sold 10.6 billion cubic meters of gas to consumers. These are record volumes of gas. At the same time, we exported 690 million cubic meters of gas abroad, which is 7% of total volumes [of natural gas sold]. The issue concerns, first of all, exports to Ukraine," Kwiecinski said.
PGNiG's press service said 690 million cubic meters of natural gas was exported to Ukraine in the first quarter of this year.
Kwiecinski said that domestic natural gas production, as well as imports of liquefied gas through the LNG terminal in Swinoujscie and the transportation of gas to Poland through the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline, would mean a surplus of gas in Poland, which the country will sell abroad.
