Ukraine’s GDP should grow by 5% per year to fight poverty – president’s advisor

The Ukrainian economy should be at least 5% of GDP growth per year in order to effectively combat poverty in the country.

President’s economic advisor Oleh Ustenko said this during the talk show Pravo na Vladu (Right to Power) on the 1+1 TV channel on Thursday evening, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“To fight poverty effectively, the economy has to grow by at least 5% per year, and this year, unfortunately, we will fall by 5%. This happens not because Zelensky is a bad president, but because the global economy is falling apart,” Ustenko said.

According to him, there can be no chance to change the life of an ordinary Ukrainian, if we do not bring the country to the trajectory of rapid economic growth.

According to the Presidential Office’s calculations, at least 5-10 billion dollars are stolen in Ukraine over a year, and this is a “common theft”, not corruption, Ustenko added.
