The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) provided UAH 6.9 billion in refinancing to nine banks, the central bank’s press service reported.

"At the end of last week, the National Bank held a tender to support bank liquidity. This is the first tender with an extended refinancing period. Amid the global crisis, the NBU increased the refinancing period from 30 to 90 days so that banks could more effectively regulate their own liquidity and feel more confident when lending to businesses and individuals. Nine banks participated in the tender and received UAH 6.9 billion,” reads the statement.

Six out of nine banks used the opportunity to take an extended refinancing loan for more than 30 days.

The total debt of solvent banks to the National Bank of Ukraine on refinancing loans has not changed since the beginning of the year and amounts to UAH 8.5 billion.
