Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Vladyslav Kryklii says he is working on the liberalization of road transport between Ukraine and Hungary in the near future.

He said this following a meeting with László Mosóczi, State Secretary for Transport at the Ministry of Innovation and Technology of Hungary. The meeting took place as part of Kryklii’s working visit to participate in the International Conference "Europe of the Carpathians" in Krasiczyn (Poland) on February 21-22, 2020.

The parties discussed the liberalization of road transport between Ukraine and Hungary, as well as the implementation of joint infrastructure projects, the Government portal reported.

Kryklii placed a special emphasis on the meeting of Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk and Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó held in Kyiv on February 7, 2020, which is important in terms of development of the Ukrainian-Hungarian transport dialogue.

"The development of cooperation between Ukraine and Hungary has positive dynamics. The Ukrainian side developed a draft protocol amending the current bilateral agreement on international road transport, which provides for the liberalization of bilateral and transit freight and non-scheduled passenger transportation. It is also necessary to be in line with current trends - to make transport corridors digital, which means that paper permits for transportation must be replaced by convenient electronic services," the minister stressed.

Kryklii informed that joint projects aimed at improving the cross-border transport infrastructure, in particular, the construction of a bypass road Berehove and village of Astey to the Luzhanka checkpoint and the bridge decking at the international Chop-Záhony border crossing, are under development.

In turn, the State Secretary for Transport at the Ministry of Innovation and Technology of Hungary commended the dynamic development of cooperation between Hungary and Ukraine in the field of transport infrastructure and stressed the importance of connecting the transport corridors of both countries.
