Finance Ministry intends to review strategy for state-owned banks
Finance Minister Oksana Markarova stated this at an annual meeting with clients and partners of the National Bank, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"We will revise our state banking strategy. We will make it more ambitious, because we want to reduce the state's share in this sector more quickly. We want to find owners or co-partners for our state-owned banks faster," said Markarova.
A reminder that the state's share in the Ukrainian banking sector grew following the nationalization of PrivatBank. At the end of Q3 2019, the share of state-owned banks was 54% in the net assets of the sector and 63% in the deposits of individuals.
There are currently four state-owned banks in Ukraine: JSC CB PrivatBank, JSB Ukrgasbank, JSC Ukreximbank and JSC Oschadbank.
