EU to help Ukraine develop renewable energy sector – Energy Ministry

The EU will assist Ukraine in developing renewable energy and energy efficiency, European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson has stated.
"After negotiations on gas transit, Ukraine can focus on the energy of the future, in particular on the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency. The EU will provide its support," Simson said during a meeting with a Ukrainian delegation led by Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection Oleksiy Orzhel.
The ministry noted that Ukraine was developing a concept of a “green” energy transition and planned to introduce a CO2 tax, the revenues from which would be spent on energy efficiency.
In turn, Orzhel thanked Simson for her support in the trilateral gas talks.
