NBU may reduce discount rate to 8% in 2020

Ukrinform
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has stated it may lower the discount rate to 8% if the economic situation remains stable in Ukraine.

"If the macroeconomic situation does not change dramatically, the discount rate may be 8%. We previously planned to reduce it to this level in 2021. However, we see now the prerequisites for a faster easing of monetary policy. Therefore, business can expect rates on loans at the level of 10 -12% per annum in hryvnias,” reads the statement on the NBU page on Facebook.

As Ukrinform reported, the Board of the National Bank of Ukraine decided to reduce the discount rate to 13.5% per annum from December 13, 2019.
