Egypt purchases 60,000 tonnes of wheat from Ukraine

Egypt purchased 300,000 tonnes of wheat at a tender on January 8, 2020, including 60,000 tonnes of grain from Ukraine, according to UkrAgroConsult.

"At a tender on January 8, 2020, Egypt purchased 300,000 tonnes of wheat from Ukraine, Romania and Russia, with delivery expected from February 18 to February 29, 2020. The average purchase price was $245.71 per tonne CFR [cost and freight]. At the previous tender, the average purchase price was $238.19 per tonne," the report said.

As part of the tender, Louis Dreyfus Company bought 60,000 tonnes of Ukrainian wheat at a price of $245.93 per tonne, including delivery.

From the beginning of the 2019/2020 marketing year (July 1, 2019) to January 3, 2020, Ukraine exported 31.1 million tonnes of grain crops (23.19 million tonnes in the same period of the 2018/2019 marketing year). In particular, Ukraine exported 14.99 million tonnes of wheat (10.47 million tonnes in the 2018/2019 marketing year).
