State budget deficit in 2019 amounted to 1.8% of GDP – Finance Ministry

The state budget deficit in 2019 amounted to UAH 72.4 billion, which is estimated at about 1.8% of GDP, according to the press service of the Finance Ministry.

"According to the State Treasury Service of Ukraine, the overall state budget deficit was lower than the target and amounted to UAH 72.4 billion (which is estimated at about 1.8% of GDP). In particular, the deficit of the general fund of the state budget was within the target of UAH 69 billion," the report says.

The state budget deficit was financed by borrowings, as revenues from privatization amounted to UAH 0.5 billion.

On December 11, 2019, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law on the state budget of Ukraine for 2020.

The budget deficit in 2020 is estimated at 2.09% of GDP, or UAH 94.275 billion.
