Vice PM Kuleba: Ukraine opposes Russia's gas aggression in issue of Nord Stream 2
"We have a very honest stance with our German colleagues... and we have openly and publicly opposed this project [Nord Stream 2] as it is a matter of our strategic national security. We understand the dissatisfaction of the German partners, but we do not oppose Germany in this issue. We oppose Russian Federation's plans to exclude Ukraine from the matrix of gas transportation to the European Union. It is not anti-German policy, it is a pro-Ukrainian policy that protects us from Russia's aggressive actions in the gas sphere," Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Dmytro Kuleba said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine agency.
Commenting on gas transit agreements with Russia, he noted that the transit agreement and the sanctions over Nord Stream 2 gave Ukraine strategic time to strengthen its energy security and minimize the negative impact of construction of gas pipelines bypassing Ukraine.
