Ukrinform
As part of trilateral talks on the continuation of Russian gas transit to Europe through Ukraine, delegations of Ukraine and Russia are holding bilateral consultations at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in Berlin.

This is an unscheduled meeting, an Ukrinform correspondent reports with reference to his sources.

The delegations of Ukraine and the Russian Federation are headed by Energy Ministers Oleksiy Orzhel and Alexander Novak, respectively.

Also, negotiations will be held in an extended format with the participation of European Commission Vice-President Maros Sefcovic.

In the morning, the parties held a series of meetings in various formats. In particular, Ukrainian Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection Oleksiy Orzhel held a meeting with German Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Peter Altmaier, who initiated negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow through the mediation of the European Commission in the summer of 2018.

This is the fifth round of the trilateral gas transit talks between Ukraine, Russia and the EU. The previous meetings were held on July 17, 2018 (Berlin), January 21, 2019, September 19, 2019 and October 28, 2019.
