He said this during the political talk show Right to Power on 1+1 TV channel on Thursday evening, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
"I believe that there is a very high percentage that we will have a gas transit agreement signed," Zelensky said.
He noted that the issue of gas was raised during a Normandy Format summit and a face-to-face meeting with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
"I see that now everyone is set to sign an agreement. This means that the main question now is the terms of this agreement,” he stressed.
The Ukrainian president reminded that Russia had offered to sign a one-year agreement, while Ukraine offered the term of 10 years.
"For some reason, I can say confidently that we will sign a transit agreement," Zelensky stressed.
At the same time, he assured that the agreement was a "purely economic issue".
As reported, the agreement between the economic entities of Ukraine and Russia on terms of transportation of Russian gas to Europe via the Ukrainian territory expires on December 31, 2019.
The summit of the leaders of the Normandy Four countries took place in Paris on December 9. The event was attended by President Volodymyr Zelensky, Russian President Vladimir Putin, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
