Number of registered unemployed Ukrainians decreased by quarter

In January-September 2019, the number of registered unemployed people in Ukraine decreased by 26.4%, the State Statistics Service reported with reference to the data provided by the State Employment Service.

In September 2019, the number of registered unemployed in Ukraine amounted to 268.2 thousand persons, which is 26.4% less than in January 2019. Among them, there were 159.2 thousand unemployed persons in cities and towns (15.5% less than in January), 109.0 thousand in rural areas (38% less). Compared to September 2018, the total number of registered unemployed persons decreased by 6.6% (in cities and towns - by 9.3%, in rural areas - by 2.2%).

The number of job openings in the database of the State Employment Service made up 100.9 thousand in September 2019. On average, there were three unemployed persons per one job offering, the same as in September 2018 (five unemployed persons per one job offering in January 2019).

As reported, according to the State Statistics Service, there were 287.1 thousand registered unemployed people in Ukraine in September 2018, which is 24.2% less than in January 2018, and 5.2% less than in September 2017.
