Ukraine increases grain exports in current MY

Since the beginning of the new marketing year, Ukraine has increased exports of grain crops by 44% or 4.6 million tonnes from the previous season.

Consulting agency UkrAgroConsult reported this with a reference to the State Fiscal Service.

“Since the beginning of 2019/2020 MY, Ukraine’s export of grain crops as of September 11, 2019 amounted to almost 15.1 million tonnes, which is 4.6 million tonnes (or 44%) higher year-over-year (10.5 million tonnes),” reads the report.

In particular, over the reporting period, wheat exports grew by 55.5% or 3.4 million tonnes and reached 9.6 million tonnes. Barley exports made up 3 million tonnes (an increase of 34%). Rye exports amounted to 2 thousand tonnes against last year’s 53.1 thousand.

The export of corn to foreign markets over the reporting period amounted to 2.4 million tonnes (an increase of 31%).

As Ukrinform reported, in 2018-2019 MY Ukraine exported 49.995 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops, 15.579 million tonnes of wheat and a mixture of wheat and rye, 3.692 million tonnes of barley, 87.8 thousand tonnes of rye, 29.822 million tonnes of corn, 815 thousand tonnes of other grains and legumes, 301.3 thousand tonnes of flour.
