Denmark is interested in the development and financing of major infrastructure projects in Donetsk region, in particular waste management and water supply programs.

Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Ukraine Ruben Madsen said this during a meeting with the leadership of Donetsk Regional State Administration, the press service of Donetsk RSA reported.

“The Government of Denmark wants to help Donetsk region. We cannot finance commercial projects. Therefore, we are very interested in developing joint programs for waste management and improving the water supply to the region’s population. We plan to study these areas and identify priorities for further cooperation,” he said.

During the meeting, the parties considered issues of previous cooperation between the governments of Denmark and Ukraine, as well as plans for further work.

The ambassador noted that the Danish business and government were interested in participating in the economic forum to be held in Mariupol in late October. The forum should become a platform where investors and experts will work out a joint strategy for development of the region in the near future.
