NBU purchases over $0.5 bln in interbank market this week

In the period from July 29 to August 2, 2019, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) purchased USD 510.2 million in the interbank foreign exchange market, the NBU’s press service has reported.
“In the period from July 29 to August 2, 2019, the National Bank bought USD 510.2 million to replenish international reserves of Ukraine, and sold USD 16.8 million,” reads the report.
A week earlier, the National Bank also bought USD 261.2 million.
Since the beginning of 2019, the volume of currency purchased by the National Bank amounted to USD 2.91 billion, while sales amounted to USD 248.23 million. Thus, the net purchase by the National Bank in the interbank foreign exchange market to replenish reserves in 2019 was USD 2.66 billion.
