Retail trade in Ukraine grows by 18% in H1 2019

Ukrainian companies increased retail trade by 17.9% in the first half of 2019 compared to the same period last year, according to the State Statistics Service.

In January-June 2019, the retail turnover of retail trade enterprises (legal entities) amounted to UAH 363.8 billion, or 17.9% more than in the same period of 2018.

The leader in terms of retail trade in the first half of 2019 was the city of Kyiv (UAH 98.3 billion), followed by Dnipropetrovsk region (UAH 47.1 billion), Kharkiv region (UAH 38.1 billion), and Odesa region (UAH 37.9 billion).

The lowest retail trade figures in the first half of 2019 were recorded in Luhansk region (UAH 4.6 billion), Chernivtsi region (UAH 7.1 billion), and Ternopil region (UAH 7.3 billion).

The retail turnover of retail trade enterprises (legal entities) in January-June 2018 amounted to UAH 308.46 billion, which was 18.2% more than in the first half of 2017.

The data are given without taking into account the retail turnover of individual entrepreneurs, as well as temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol and part of temporarily occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
