Ukrainian farmers already harvest almost 20 mln tonnes of grain

"As of July 17, farmers in all regions harvested 19.7 million tonnes of grain crops of the new harvest from an area of 5.6 million hectares, or 58% of the target," the report reads.

In particular, Ukrainian farmers threshed 13.8 million tonnes of wheat from an area of 3.7 million hectares (57%); 5.3 million tonnes of barley from 1.6 million hectares (65%); 524,000 tonnes of peas from 232,000 hectares (82%); 20,000 tonnes of rye from 8,000 hectares (7%); and 7,000 tonnes of oats from 3,000 hectares (2%).

Also, 2.2 million tonnes of winter rape were gathered from an area of 952,000 hectares (74%), with a yield of 23.3 centners per hectare.

The sowing campaign 2019 began a month earlier than last year. The total area under agricultural crops in all categories of farms for the 2019 harvest is about 27.7 million hectares.
