Ukrainian farmers harvest over 13 mln tonnes of grain – Agrarian Policy Ministry

"As of July 10, farmers in all regions started harvesting early grain and leguminous crops. In total, 13.1 million tonnes of grain crops of the new harvest were gathered from an area of 3.9 million hectares, or 40% of the target," the report reads.

In particular, Ukrainian farmers threshed 8.6 million tonnes of wheat from an area of 2.5 million hectares (37%); 4.1 million tonnes of barley from 1.2 million hectares (49%); and 447,000 tonnes of peas from 204,000 hectares (71%).

Also, 1.4 million tonnes of winter rape were gathered from an area of 649,000 hectares, with a yield of 21.6 centners per hectare.

The sowing campaign 2019 began a month earlier than last year. The total area under agricultural crops in all categories of farms for the 2019 harvest is about 27.7 million hectares.
