Zelensky signs decree to improve access to mobile web throughout Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has approved measures to improve access to mobile Internet throughout the country.

The decree to that effect, No. 497/2019 of July 9, 2019, has been published on the website of the head of state.

The document notes that the said measures have been approved "to secure the maximum coverage of Ukraine's territory with mobile communication networks of the third and fourth generations, provide broadband access to the Internet, and ensure the receipt by Ukrainian citizens everywhere of the advantages and opportunities of the digital world, especially in the spheres of education, medicine, e-commerce, administrative services, e-democracy development."

The head of state also instructed the Cabinet of Ministers, in cooperation with the National Commission for the State Regulation of Communications and Informatization, to ensure the implementation of measures to improve access to the mobile web approved by this decree, as well as inform the president every month on the status of their implementation.
