Trilateral gas talks to resume in September – Sefcovic

He said this in his speech in Strasbourg on Thursday while addressing the new composition of the European Parliament on behalf of the president of the European Commission, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"I would like to inform you that the next trilateral talks between Ukraine, Russia and the European Commission [on gas transit] will resume already in September," he said.

At the same time, Sefcovic assured that he would make every effort to ensure the continuation of the transit of Russian gas through the Ukrainian gas transmission system.

"I will do my utmost personally to make sure that there will be a continuation of long-term gas transit through Ukraine for the next long-term period," he said.

As reported, the contract on Russian gas transit through the territory of Ukraine expires on December 31, 2019. At the same time, Russia refused to hold trilateral talks on the conclusion of a new contract on the transit of gas to the EU through the Ukrainian gas transportation system in May or June.
