Ukraine, Italy discuss prospects for further cooperation
"During the meeting, Stepan Kubiv stressed the strategic nature of the partnership between Ukraine and Italy, and noted further prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation, in particular, through the Ukrainian-Italian Council for Economic, Industrial and Financial Cooperation," the press service of the Economic Development Ministry reports.
Kubiv stressed the immutability of the course towards the European integration of Ukraine, the deepening of trade and economic cooperation with the EU countries, including Italy. “More than 14,000 Ukrainian companies export their products to the European Union. It also creates additional tools for multilateral cooperation,” he said.
According to Kubiv, it is necessary to strengthen possibilities for cooperation in the field of renewable energy, agricultural engineering, processing industry, as well as the development of digital economy, innovations and IT technologies. “This will be facilitated by the updated agreement on the promotion and mutual protection of investments between Ukraine and Italy,” the first deputy prime minister said.
As reported, in 2018, the trade turnover between Ukraine and Italy amounted to USD 4.47 billion, which is almost 14% more than in 2017.
