Kolomoisky's statement about default threatens Ukraine's economy - Hopko

Chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Affairs Hanna Hopko wrote this on her Facebook page.

"I believe that the statement made in the interview raises a catastrophic threat to our economy and even, as a consequence, [poses] the risk of a loss of statehood," she said.

Hopko noted that the current state of affairs and relations with the IMF and other external lenders cannot fully suit Ukraine and needs a large-scale review.

"A warring country, which has a deep internal economic crisis, the absence of significant domestic and foreign investment, high levels of other risks, cannot exist in the standby mode for a year or one-and-a-half years waiting for 1.5-2 billion dollars, which come not to the economy but to national reserves and for the purpose of covering the budget deficit and repaying old debts," she said.

Kolomoisky said in an interview with the Financial Times that Ukraine should declare a default, believing that in this matter it is necessary to follow the example of Greece.
