Ukrainian agricultural exports grew by over 22 percent in 1Q 2019

In the first quarter of 2019, the exports of Ukrainian agricultural products grew by 22.5% compared to the same period in 2018.

"Compared to the same period in 2018, the foreign trade turnover of agricultural products grew by 18.4% (by $1.07 billion) and the exports grew by 22.5% (by $989.9 million)," Acting Agrarian Policy and Food Minister of Ukraine Olha Trofimtseva said, the press service of the Ministry reports.

In the first quarter of 2019, Ukraine's foreign trade turnover totaled $25.9 billion, and the products of agro-industrial complex accounted for $6.9 billion (26.6%).

She noted that the most significant factors in the formation of a positive balance in the foreign trade in agricultural products are the exports of grain crops, accounting for 45.4% of agricultural exports within the mentioned period, vegetable oil - 22.2% and oilseeds — 6.7%.

The acting minister added that the leading positions in the regional structure of agricultural exports over past three months of this year were occupied by Asia countries with a share of 40.9%, the EU countries - 34.9%, Africa countries - 15.3%, CIS countries - 6.3 %.

The major importers of Ukrainian agricultural products were: India – 9.9%, Egypt – 8.6%, China – 7.5%, Turkey – 7.4%, the Netherlands - 7%, Spain – 6.3% , Italy - 4%, Poland - 3.3%, Belarus - 2.9%, Germany – 2.9%.
