IMF maintains Ukraine's real GDP projection for 2019
As stated in the report "World Economic Outlook", Ukraine's real GDP is projected at 2.7% by the end of this year. The projection for 2020 is 3.0%.
Ukraine is traditionally included in the group of the Commonwealth of Independent States economies, although it is noted that Ukraine is not a CIS member and was included in this group for reasons of geography. Tajikistan (5.0%) has the best real GDP projection for 2019 in this group. Belarus (1.8%) has the lowest projection. The average indicator for the group is 2.8%, which is roughly equal to the projections for Ukraine's GDP.
In addition, the IMF unveiled other important indicators of economic growth in Ukraine. So, the consumer prices, as expected by IMF analysts, will stay at 8.0 this year (compared with 10.9 last year), and will decrease to 5.9 in 2020. The current account balance in Ukraine will remain negative at the level of -2.5% in 2019 and -2.4% in 2020. The unemployment rate in Ukraine is expected to decline from 9.0% last year to 8.5% this year and will continue to lower in 2020 (8.1%).
