Ukraine increased export of berries almost five times over past four year

“Over the past four years, the export [of berries] has grown almost five times, namely from 4.5 thousand tonnes to 23.5 thousand tonnes. Ukrainian fresh berries are exported to Belarus, Poland, Moldova, the UK and the Netherlands. The EU countries have become the largest consumers of frozen berries,” acting Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Olha Trofimtseva stated this at the international forum “S-Fruit Transformation

She also noted that 132.9 thousand tonnes of berries were harvested by all categories of Ukrainian farms in 2018, of which only 15.3 thousand tonnes were gathered by agricultural enterprises.

“The largest share of gathered berries was made up by strawberries, with a harvest totaling 62.3 thousand tonnes, raspberries (35.6 thousand tonnes) and currants (29.6 thousand tonnes),” the acting minister added.
