Volume of trade between Zhytomyr region and Belarus reaches almost 15%

This was discussed during a meeting of the leadership of Zhytomyr region with Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Ukraine Igor Sokol, the press service of Zhytomyr Regional State Administration reported.

“The parties discussed economic cooperation, because the Republic of Belarus is one of the largest foreign trade partners of Zhytomyr region. Export-import operations in 2018 accounted for 14.4% of the total turnover of the region, amounting to USD 171.8 million,” the report says.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the process of preparation for the second Forum of Regions of Ukraine and Belarus to be held in Zhytomyr in the autumn of 2019.

According to the ambassador, the first forum gives results. In particular, in the first months after the event, the increase in turnover in the regions was already 140–160%.

As reported, the first Forum of Regions of Ukraine and Belarus was held in Gomel on October 25-26, 2018.
