Ukraine, Slovenia to enhance cooperation in agricultural sector
"Our countries have many directions for active cooperation in the agricultural sector. In particular, it concerns expanding trade and economic cooperation, promoting investment in the agricultural sector of both countries, the development of organic production, the introduction of IT projects in the agricultural sector and cooperation in the field of food safety and quality and phytosanitary requirements. Taking into account Slovenia’s EU accession experience, we look forward to their support in the area of bringing the Ukrainian legislation in line with the European one. We also hope to enhance cooperation in the veterinary sector, including the exchange of experience in the fight against such diseases as ASF,” said Trofimtseva.
She added that the creation of comprehensive legal framework is an important prerequisite for the development of bilateral cooperation. Thus, both sides have started to develop a draft Memorandum of Understanding in the agricultural sector.
According to the acting minister, the signing of this document is expected to take place as part of the International Agroindustrial Fair AGRO 2019 (June 4-7) in Ukraine.
The visit took place on March 11, 2019, following the agreements reached at the 8th meeting of the Joint Ukrainian-Slovenian Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation held in Kyiv in February.
